Hi there natv!

There is still no release date yet. Some explorers are leaning towards a Google I/O announcement of release date and price. But nothing confirmed.

Also chances are the consumer version will be different. And yes, there is a company making RX frames for Glass. I can't remember the name though.. Its like Rockefeller or Rockland or something like that lol. Sorry I'm not much help. Google knows though. Google, "Google Glass prescription frames" and something will pop up!

There are a few establishments that have banned Glass. One bar where I live has doesn't allow Glass on the premises... and here's the kicker, its a video game bar called Press Play lol. Crazy. But I spoke with the manager and asked him why. His response was because you can't easily tell if you are recording or not. Sorta true, although its easy to spot someone recording with Glass, its not as obvious as someone holding up a camera.  But, that falls short of holding any water because we all know there are ways yo record people with your phone without anyone noticing. Not to mention $30 spy cams you can buy online... Or even Samsung's Galaxy Gear watch that has a camera on the wristband. Its just a lost cause if you ask me.

I have heard sending and receiving SMS does not work with iOS and Glass.

Can't comment on this, I have no idea.

There is a tiny screw that needs to be unscrewed in order to detach Glass hardware from the frame. I'm assuming same would need to be done onto the new RX frame. And its probably a little more permanent than temporary. I see most users just wear Glass over there prescription lenses.

Yep, looks exactly the same with the exception of some sort of hinge that's supposed to be able to attach to prescription lenses.

Hi guys!
I have not had access to the Google Glass, but have two questions that will help me determine if I

1) Is it possible to operate Google Glass with the microUSB connected? From what I have read, battery life is an issue, especially if you are streaming/recording video, which is what I intend to do. The reason I ask this, is that I plan on streaming live video for a number of hours and was thinking of building some sort of battery pack to power the Google Glass.
2) The second question I have is: What is the format of the video stream provided by Google Glass? (e.g. M-Jpeg, H264, etc). Can I log into the Glass with, say, RTSP and pull the stream, or does it need a special server to upload video to?

I hope I can get some answers to these questions, as the Google Glass site is hard to navigate.

Thanks!

Hi there peoplayer!
While I don't have Glass just yet (3 more days... I'm dying here!!) I have had the opportunity to play with it a bit. I can tell you YES you can operate and use all of Glass's function while connected to a power source via micro USB. I am unsure about the 2nd question though. I am getting fitted so I will have the opportunity to ask questions.. I've copied and pasted your question and will revisit this thread in a few days with a better answer :D

Google Glass Accessories / Re: Google Glass Battery Extension Pack
« on: September 29, 2013, 11:05:54 PM »
Hey, I'm actually working on developing a battery extension pack for Glass. The goal would be to about double the battery capacity by adding another 570 mAh battery that would discretely attach to the device and plug in via the USB port. I'm actually looking for people to try out a prototype and see what they think. Is this a problem that you guys have and want solved?

For those of you that have a pair, you'll notice that they usually die in the afternoon / early evening---depending on usage. With such a glass battery life expansion pack you should be able to get a *real* full day of battery life out of the device.

Here's the website:

If you're interested in pre-ordering one or beta testing it for us, let me know!
replied to you on XDA. Yeah.. Count me in!

Google Glass Polls / Re: How Much Would You Pay For Google Glass?
« on: September 29, 2013, 11:03:20 PM »
I think a fair price for what it does now is around the $200 range. However I think when the consumer version before available, and now since developers are expected to get the GDK , we will see a lot more potential and uses which will make the device probably be around $500 area (maybe not :-/). And yeah.. I'd pay it :)

New Member Introductions / Re: Hello
« on: September 29, 2013, 10:17:35 PM »
Hi everyone,

So, this is my intro. I don't know how to develop software in Android, but I eventually hope to. I mainly registered to put forward an idea, and to know if it's already available or if it's even possible.

I would like to have an ebook reader on Google glass, so I can read mathematics books while running or biking.

I will only buy Glass if this is possible. Otherwise it would not be of that use to me.

First off, hi there and welcome to the forum! I am curious though, when I'm biking (or running) I find it nearly impossible to read anything like a book. Also keep in mind to view the display of Glass you need to look up, I imagine this to be very eye straining.
