Title: Will current Glass from Explorer program be the same as the release version?
Post by: natv on January 03, 2014, 11:19:01 AM
I finally got an invite! So excited!!

But now I have a question, since I assume Google Glass will be released to the public pretty soon (?)...

Will the release glasses be the same as the ones I'd get from the Explorer Program?

Also if I'll want prescription lenses, anyone have info on that?

Thanks
Nat

Hi there natv!

There is still no release date yet. Some explorers are leaning towards a Google I/O announcement of release date and price. But nothing confirmed.

Also chances are the consumer version will be different. And yes, there is a company making RX frames for Glass. I can't remember the name though.. Its like Rockefeller or Rockland or something like that lol. Sorry I'm not much help. Google knows though. Google, "Google Glass prescription frames" and something will pop up!

I have the prescription frame and it looks terrific. The styles given are a nice option. Make sure to not loose the clear rubber nose pieces. The eye glass store lost 1 while installing my lenses and I lost one. I called Google and they were baffled on how to get me a some spares. But of course they came through in flying colors and got me some spares fast.

Oh and the frames makes it harder for people to notice the Glass. So less drama I guess.

Good luck.
